It was sometimes in October.
A stressful busy day trying to split myself in-between learning, working and arranging stuff around the house, when just to relax myself I took a brake. A short and inspired brake. I was feeling a bit exhausted and felt like needing some sort of reset, something “nice to think about”.
The winter was just around the corner and you know, especially if you live close to the 60° parallel, well is starting to be sad. Luck of sun, luck of light, is a determining factor for low energy levels as well as for much more serious stuff such as seasonal affective disorder, season depression or winter blues.
That is just one of the things you have to take with you in the bag along with all the daily problems which, of course everyone has. Somebody needs to deal with something, always. Your tasks, your duties, your thoughts, your worries, suddenly everything becomes so much heavier in your bag, just because during the cold season the sun is kind of rare to be seen. Short and simple, missing sun equals missing vitamin D equals missing being happy, right?
What a better reason to pause work, take a brake and start thinking about a mini, tiny, shiny winter vacation, a trip to sun and sea.
I opened Google maps, looking for some location where it may be hot enough for getting tanned and taking a bath in the sea. Anywhere in Europe reachable and within budget. Dates? Anytime in November if you please. So I was checking places (Google Maps), prices here and there, weather conditions and sea water temperature.
The only reliable options seemed to be Malta and Cyprus. I was already bookmarking them when I got a call from Cristina “the blonde one”, a friend of ours from southern France. Hearing me she is like: Did you guys checked Canary Islands? I was like, no.. hmm… Well, do it, she said. Apparently a friend of hers has been there and she said was good. I also got a name, Fuerteventura.
OK, good good. The only think I knew was that Canary islands have a very nice climate and so is like a perpetual spring in there, year-round, as this was extremely enthusiastically presented Johnny and Andrea, some friends we have in Canada. Those were good enough resons for a search right?
And honestly, from there it was like this: Search; Found; Meeting budget? Yes! Buy now, Booked!
Was it good? Well, I am sure you have already checked the video we did, so yes, it was good and it was fun. 😉 In case you did not have the chance to see our video, find it below.
Since we really need to keep our schedule and launch this project today, I will end this article here with the promise to actually come back with another one where the impression and tips will take over the story of how we actually got to get away. Let’s leave coldness and darkness and take a trip to sun, ocean surf and fun.
